My writing called      bring a return
metamorphosis      answered
beating its wings      drying the flow
a seasonal cycle      fall into spring
in a jar once of Play-Doh      six months
an insectarium          transformed
a living statue      a bathroom constant
awaiting      a vernal spark      life
parsley wilted      dried      long ago
withered upon      a lilac twig
hanging      a Houdini from a bridge
a stowaway      a black-winged swallow
sail away      sail away      now
your angel eyes      open      born anew
for ten days      eternal      life perfect
captured      set free      in a moment
a miracle’s delight      innocence      returned.

Swallow Tail

Submitted as part of “National/Global Poetry Writing Month” (#NaPoWriMo #GloPoWriMo).

Today’s promptDay Thirty:  our final (optional) prompt! This year, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem about something that returns. For, just as the swallows come back to Capistrano each year, NaPoWriMo and GloPoWriMo will ride again!
